Red Shoes for Romeo based out of San Jose, CA is comprised of the multi-talented songwriting duo that is Mike H. Fraser and Gene Kostelnik. Both veterans of the San Francisco Bay Area music scene for more than a decade, they have been playing and recording music with many different bands and projects in the San Jose area. Meeting for the first time in 2005 while Mike auditioned for Gene's then project The Blind, both realized the potential that they had stumbled upon in each other's writing abilities while involved in that project. They soon decided to go out on their own and formed Red Shoes for Romeo in 2006.
M. Howard Fraser
Mike was born in Sacramento, CA and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area
around 1981. All through the 80s and 90s he played and recorded in many bands
including: Patmos Vision, Lyon, Rain Parade, and Cast Of Shadows.
Mike has a natural ablility to pick up just about any instrument and play it well. He is the arranger and producer behind the Red Shoes For Romeo sound. Mike plays a variety of instruments including: acoustic and electric guitars, bass, mandolin, keyboards, piano and does drum programming. Mike sings background vocals and engineered and mixed Gypsy Fortune Teller in his home studio, Clearwater Studios.
Gene Kostelnik
Gene was born in Denver, CO and moved to the Bay Area after living in Germany for 4 years. He performed and recorded in previous projects and bands including Push Cat and The Blind.
Gene is the amazing voice behind Red Shoes For Romeo. Along with
performing the lead and background vocals on Gypsy Fortune Teller, Gene
plays acoustic and electric guitars, harmonica and percussion. Gene's
sincere approach in his performing has made many devoted fans over the
years. His ability as a singer/songwriter and storyteller have helped him to
create many memorable and deeply personal songs over his career.
